Make a Scene! 2024 August 16–18, 2024 Center for Performing Arts (Minneapolis, Minnesota)

Make a Scene! is a live-action roleplaying scenario festival in the Twin Cities. Join us for a weekend-long celebration of new live-action narrative games ranging from large to small, silly to serious, and abstract to personal!

When we use the term “scenario,” we are referring to an easy-to-play and easy-to-learn narrative game. All of our scenarios will be played in-person at Make a Scene! and each scenario tells a different story. This kind of game is probably more familiar than you think. If you have ever watched or performed in a theater or improv show, participated in a murder mystery dinner or escape room, played a tabletop roleplaying game or larp, engaged emotionally with film and literature, or just played good ol’ make believe, you already have at least some experience with this kind of storytelling!

Summer LARPin' 2024 July 19–21, 2024

Summer Larpin' is an independent, day-long+ larping event taking place in the summers in Massachusetts for the seventh year. It grew as a result of a few friends who wanted to play each others' games and "have them a blast". Special shout out to Kristen Patten, Michael OJ, and Chris Shannon, (alongside Alison Joy) who helped bring this con to life six years ago! Everyone is welcomed to come!

Fastaval - Otto Under the Sea (2019) April 17–21, 2019 Hobro Idrætscenter (Hobro, Denmark)

Every Easter, close to 1000 people, gather in the Danish town Hobro to share their common passion for roleplaying- and board games, and to be part of a unique community.

Fastaval is a convention with a proud tradition for creativity. Every year we present, some of the best roleplaying scenarios and board games in the world, exclusively designed for Fastaval. Besides the many different games, you can also experience several other activities. Come and meet our guest(s) of honor, listen in on the podcast hour, participate in workshops and talks, or you can hang out with new and old friends in the Board Game lounge or party in the Fastaval Bar

Fastaval is, at its core, a Danish-speaking convention but we welcome international guests with open arms. You will find that all our organizers and adult participants speak English and we take great care to make as many games and program items available in English as possible. We also have an on-site translator and international guest organizer teams if you need anything during Fastaval. If you wish to get in contact with other international guests before signing up check out the Facebook group Fastaval for Internationals.

Black Box Horsens ...And That's It February 01–03, 2019 Komediehuset (Horsens, Denmark)

...And that’s it Welcome friends, new and old. This will be the last Black Box Horsens. Five years ago we made the first Black Box Horsens and every year since we have together created magic in the black boxes at the venue, Komediehuset.

But now it is time to end it. So this year Black Box Horsens is the before Knudepunkt 2019. Just as we did back in 2015 at the very first Black Box Horsens. This is our way of closing the circle and a fitting end for this magical creature we have created together.

At Black Box Horsens we both want to look back at five amazing years bot also look forward. Even at our end, our vision of designing for experiences, connections and inclusion stands, stronger than ever. We want this event to be a place of memorable experiences, new connections where everyone feel welcome and included.

So welcome and thank you for facing the end with us Simon James Pettitt on behalf of the BBH Team

Blackbox CPH 2019 January 18–20, 2019 Huset-KBH (Copenhagen, Denmark)

Welcome to BlackBox Cph – a festival for experimental role play at the centre of Copenhagen.

At Blackbox Cph you can choose between a number of larps of about 3 hours’ duration. The larps will apply theatrical lighting and sound for controlling the play and several of them will be experimenting with other theatrical techniques. This creates a unique form of role play that has come to be known as black box role play.

Knutpunkt 2018 March 15–18, 2018 Scandic Star (Lund, Sweden)

Dear participants and co-creators of Knutpunkt 2018.

For the past year, your humble and devoted program group have been working hard in the attempt of putting together a great program for this year’s Knutpunkt. This has been an inspiring, exhausting, frustrating (mostly because of the fact that we had too many great submissions and not enough time or space for them all in the actual program), enlightening and amazing journey.

We are so glad that we now get to share this with the rest of you, as well as extremely excited to finally get to experience all of the program items our brilliant program hosts have been planning and preparing all this time.

During this process, we have been aiming to keep this year’s theme - shuffling the deck - in mind at all times. For us, this means that we have been trying to put together a diverse program mixing the “classic” Knutpunkt program items with influences from other scenes to provide some new perspectives and ideas regarding larp experiences and design.

Diversity has also been important for us in other ways, as we have aimed for a program created by people of different genders and ages, from different backgrounds, countries and parts of the scene and with a different amount of previous Knutpunkt experience.

We are especially proud of all the first time program hosts who have contributed to the Knutpunkt 2018 program. The theme of shuffling the deck is also something we wish you to keep in mind when you dive into this year’s program, and are trying to make the (almost impossible) decisions on which talks, larps, panels and workshops to go to. We want to challenge you all to attend at least one item about a subject you have no prior knowledge of, that is held by a someone you haven’t met before or that is something you wouldn’t normally attend. Our wish is that each and every one of you dare to indulge in this program with open minds and expand your horizons. If you do that, we promise that you will leave here with a whole new set of tools and sources of inspiration to further explore this wonderful and crazy world of larp. Have a magnificent Knutpunkt 2018!

All the love from your program group, Rosalind Göthberg Siri Sandquist Anna Emilie Groth Olle Nyman

Location also uncertain, but the game materials for Rekon+10 suggest this Holiday Inn. (Since the game is set "inside" the real con, as the original Rekon was.)

Scandic Star (Lund, Sweden)

Holiday Inn (Newark, NJ)

Date uncertain, but the welcome letter to the game Rekon+10 is dated July 23, 1993, so it's moderately likely that was the start of the game and con.

Location also uncertain, but the game materials for Rekon+10 suggest this Holiday Inn. (Since the game is set "inside" the real con, as the original Rekon was.)
