Mont St. Michel

A large number of international pilgrims have made their way to the Monst Saint Michel Monastery. The Abbot has invited his guests to a grand dinner, to welcome them. The tides are in, and will keep the causeway covered for several hours. Everybody is curious about why so many foreigners have come on pilgrimage at the same time. The shrewd Abbot is watching the foreigners carefully. Because of international tensions between France, England, Germany and Spain in 1632, and the Protestant split with the mother church, the atmosphere is very tense.
