Eulogy for Elyra

Step into a futuristic world where technology and humanity collide at the first-ever funeral for an organic AI. In the year 2155, the scientists at SSK Industries are pioneers in medical and technological enhancements. Due to strict regulations, AI cannot exist in typical sci-fi chassis. To circumnavigate the restrictions, SSK has leveraged its research into growing organs into growing bodies for AIs. The first successful Organic AI, Elyra, has died, and their team of creators now holds a funeral of sorts, attended by a journalist who has been granted exclusive access to chronicle this momentous occasion. But not everyone on the team is feeling the same way about Elyra, or even the ethics of this research. With everyone experiencing heightened emotions, conflicts will undoubtedly arise.

Every team member has choices to make, and none of them are easy.

Long Description

Eulogy for Elyra is a LARP about loss, AI, and team dynamics. Players will take on the role of either a scientist, lab assistant, Organic AI prototype, or journalist. The scientists and lab assistants have been involved in the creation of Elyra from the very beginning. Despite knowing Elyra is “just a machine,” they couldn’t help but develop complex feelings around their work.

The project team also recently brought on one of the other Organic AI Prototypes, Kira, to assist with the development of the older Elyra. Kira is new to this world in every way, and just witnessed the passing of their predecessor. Will a similar fate befall Kira?

Often experiencing conflicting sentiments throughout the project, the team is at a breaking point. Everything will come to the surface, and in the end we shall see who decides to stay on with the next phase of the project - further development of the Kira prototype.
