After your sponsor dropped you, your theatre troupe became sky pirates to fund and spread your art throughout the magical world of Speir. But, it hasn’t gone well and morale is low after days of storms… You now gather in your ship’s black box theatre. Is this the end of your pirating (and performing) days?
How you got here
Six months ago, the Red Feather Syndicate, a greedy company that rules over a large portion of Speir and claims to own its skies, dumped your once-popular traveling theatre troupe and kicked you off their skyships, dropping you in a remote mountain village at the edges of Red Feather territory. Full of spite and a passion for the arts, your troupe, with help from the local community, put together a small skyship, The Poetic Pigeon, and set sail as corsairs.
At first, it seemed like a great idea. You could stick it to those Red Feather bastards, explore the world, and most importantly, share your art freely without censorship or the incessant drive to make a profit off of it. However, now you’re beginning to doubt. As a mostly inexperienced crew, you’ve faced trial after trial. You spent two weeks completely lost after a sky charting error, your haphazard raid on a Red Feather merchant vessel to try to replenish your stores ended in a pity donation, and your funds and morale are running low. A few days ago, you started sailing toward Burza Nyth, a bustling merchant city, to perform your first major show, find some jobs and resources, and maybe even add some more capable allies to your crew. Things were looking up as your crew was abuzz about what the city might hold... but then the storms hit. For days, you've been battling the storms to keep your ship aloft, and yesterday, the unthinkable happened- you lost one of your crew.
Finally, today, the storms quieted. You're a day away from Burza Nyth. But nothing feels right. You gather with your crew, sore, exhausted, and grieving, in the black box theatre installed in the center of your ship. Your captain has called for a Union's Stage, a longstanding performance ritual your troupe has done whenever faced with hard times and difficult decisions. Will your crew decide to continue to sail and leap onto the stage together or will you ground your ship and part ways?
