Jubilee
Every seventeen years, there is a Jubilee to free us from the agreements we have made with our inner Voices. But the Voices remain, and we all must decide how to live with them going forward. An introspective larp of intra- and interpersonal relationships.
Long Description
"You're better than this, stop wasting your time." "They need this more than you do." "Do it do it do it do it." "Forget them, they don't matter." "No one else would care about you, so don't screw this up." "It's already too late anyway."
The Voices come to us to help us. Some of them guide us toward our life's work, or our life's partners. Many of them protect us from hurt and suffering.
The Voices are insistent. Only when we make promises that satisfy them do they mostly leave us in peace. Many are grateful for the lives their Voices lead them to. Many of us are not.
Every seventeen years, there is a Jubilee, when all contracts, pacts, and agreements we have made with our Voices are wiped clean. But the Voices within us remain, so we all must determine what new promises we are willing to make, now with eyes open.
Jubilee is a larp of inter- and intra-personal relationships, with characters starting out somewhere on a spectrum of dissatisfaction and (mostly mid-life) crisis, and hopefully ending somewhere better. Everyone will be playing someone with two inner Voices, each of which is shared with several other characters. Play will be a mix of free discussion with friends/families/partners/lovers/etc., and scheduled small gatherings of those with each Voice to commisserate and to confront and negotiate with that Voice (embodied by the other characters who possess it).
Setting is modern real world, if people's inner psychological parts were independent, shared entities. (Voices are otherwise not that far from the 'parts' of the IFS/Internal Family Systems' therapeutic model, or the 'demons' of Tsultrim Allione's Feeding Your Demons practice.)
