Long Description

The Grand Lexicon of Baron Munchausen! is an asychronous writing and roleplaying game that you play over the course of three days by jointly editing a Google Slides presentation. It combines the general structure of Lexicon with the over-the-top fantastical stories of The Adventures of Baron Munchausen. On the first day, each player creates and introduces their character, by writing the first part of a tall tale. Other than being a Very Important Person of some kind, you can create whatever sort of character you wish. Likewise, the setting, while being very vaguely set in the 17th or 18th century, can take place in any location (often tall tales of this sort involve world travels) and can include any number of fantastical elements!

As in the game Lexicon, each player leaves some interesting words (names of people, events in history, titles of books, etc.) in each part of their story undefined. As other players join, they may create new slides that define these words, building the world that the game takes place in with each new definition. As the game progresses, the various authors may ask questions of each other, or even challenge each other to provide more detail or be proven a liar! At the end of the game, we will have created an interlocking Lexicon of Tall Tales and their setting!

Each day of the game will require roughly 500 words of writing total, although players are welcome to do a bit more if they would like. Although the game is asynchronous, players may wish to start their writing early in the day, and then come back and fill in definitions and comments later on. Thus, this game can be played during breaks in the schedule, and should not interfere with folks' participation in other LARPs.
