The beautiful view of Earth from orbit may be the last thing you ever see. With an unresponsive captain, the spacecraft's survival rests in the hands of you tourist passengers. Show the right stuff and work together, or die in space. Immersive hard sci-fi.
Long Description
Few have viewed Earth from space, but it may be the last view ever for you as one of the space tourists in Capsule Arial, that orbital flight you'd been planning on for years. A power short nearly electrocuted the Captain– the only trained astronaut– into an unresponsive state and fried parts of the controls, so as a team you'll have to figure out a way to get systems working well enough to de-orbit and return to Earth. You have 75 minutes before the air runs out. To live or die is in the hands of you and your fellow passengers.
'Panic!' is a real time immersive hard sci-fi problem-solving LARP in a constrained physical environment simulating being in a space capsule orbiting 400km above the Earth. This game has aspects of sensory and physical limitations, which will be calibrated 'Harrison Bergeron' style to accommodate players. For example, a physically weaker player with a strong 'athlete' character would face lighter prop loads than a physically stronger player with an unathletic 'social influence' character– but both would have to do their respective lifting to accomplish the task. Expect movement restriction, lighting limitations, and ambient background noise, at the very least.
Players will choose from a selection of pre-gen characters who serve as 'skill bundles' with a strong character hook and a little flavor text and promptly throw themselves into the survival situation. Perhaps you are the Influencer, able to crowdsource solutions if given access to Comms. Or the Professor, with immense theoretical insight but an appalling lack of hands-on skill. Each of the many roles has something they bring to the mission. Loosely based on the upcoming "Traveller: Pioneers" sourcebook of right-now extrapolated space travel, focusing on humans versus environment. Time to see if you have the right stuff to work together, or else die in space: it's all up to you.
