Long Description

Ever think about how people sometimes call friends “the family you choose”? That’s because, save your significant other(s) and any adopted children, your “actual” family is a bunch of people you didn’t choose. Most of us have those special times of year when the whole family gets together, whether they want to or not. It’s why some people feel dread when holidays roll around. Conventional wisdom says the best way to handle these obligatory gatherings is to smile, keep your head down, and ignore whatever you don’t like about your extended relatives. But where's the fun in that? Sometimes, some over-the-top fictional family drama can really get the blood pumping.

Dirty Laundry is the story of a Thanksgiving dinner no reasonable person would attend. The game pokes fun at common tropes of “the relative nobody else likes” - in this family, every person is a distinct flavor of obnoxious. It's for anyone who enjoys some "loving" argument, passive-aggression, and backstabbing around the dinner table. It's designed to facilitate greater understanding of differing viewpoints and lifestyles, for those players who choose to play a character similar to a person (or type of person) that bothers them.

Dirty Laundry does require being comfortable with heated in-character conflict, or at minimum, subtle awfulness and back-handed compliments. It is equally suited to both experienced gamers, and any new player willing to commit to being a jerk for a while. The optional debrief will include a little boffer fighting with pool noodles, to help release any remaining tension.

This game will include an actual, physical meal. If you have any specific dietary requirements (e.g. allergies, veterian, vegan, kosher, halal), I will communicate them to the hotel. However, it may also be prudent to bring some of your own food.
