The Assassin's Teapot

by Rachel Hughes and Janaya Kizzie

The Assassin’s Teapot is a game of assassin where wit, improvisation and impeccable etiquette are as deadly as poison. As in the normal game of assassin, participants are assigned a target to kill; in the Assassin’s Teapot, however, players are assassins given the option to kill or make alliances among a society of assassins. Each player will be given the skeleton of their character—their essence as embodied in their alias, based on the Rider-Waite-Smith tarot, and cues toward their interests—and will expand them while improvising through game play. This is a structured game in three acts; kills will occur only in the third act, keeping conversation core and key. Assassinations and some out-of-character negotiation will occur using tea-based mechanics. And, unlike a traditional game of assassin, it will be more fun to die than to win.
