Long Description

In your villages, when there is a question of great import, people turn to the shamans and seers and others who can read the omens.

You are one of these wise people, steeped in understanding of how the gods or spirits or forces of nature communicate through the signs they give. Every six months, you gather with the omen-readers from other villages, bringing the burning questions of your people. Together, you wait and watch for what signs may come. Sometimes, there are many omens; sometimes, none. The spirits are not always forthcoming.

This time, each of you has a question of your own, one for which you desperately hope for guidance. And all wise folk know, no one can read the omens for themselves. And so you come to this season's gathering hoping that your fellow seers will be able to read the omens for you. No two of you see the omens in exactly the same way, and you may find yourself receiving conflicting answers. What you do with them when you return will be up to you.

In this game, you will be given a brief character concept as well as some guidance on how your character might interpret different kinds of omens (though you will be free to embellish and adapt these meanings as you see fit). You will also receive a randomly-assigned question. Concepts and questions will be assigned before game.

During game, each person in turn will experience an omen (represented by a random draw from a variety of possible options). The other characters will then advise them on the possible meanings of that omen, based on what they know of the person and their question (which may or may not be shared with everyone, depending on character choice). At the end of the game, players will be given the chance to describe how their character acts on the information gained, if they so choose.

Character backgrounds and questions may touch on sensitive topics including love, death, sickness, loss, and violence. The full list of questions will be made available before they are assigned, and players will be able to remove any that they either do not want in game at all or that they do not want to have as their own question.

There will be a brief workshop to establish relationships among the characters. The game has no mechanics, and is entirely focused on roleplay and storytelling.
