Long Description

Congratulations! You have been selected as part of the first Human/Xolarean Cultural Rooming Exchange (HXCRE)! Whether you are a Human or a Xolarean, we are excited you have signed up to further intergalactic diplomacy. There's truly no better way to get to know someone (or some other species!) than by living with them.

Your first task will be to attend a small get together of all the participants in the HXCRE, choose your roommates (no more than three of each species, please!), and negotiate your roommate agreement.

While of course we want you to advocate for your own needs, you must at all times keep in mind the idiosyncracies of your roommates (whether Humans or Xolareans). These may seem strange. These may seem incomprehensible. They may seem, dare I say, alien? But we have every faith in your ability to be generous and gracious.

And if you fail? Well, you will be kicked from the program, banished, and a large financial penalty will be applied ([please see subsection 34(b) of the application, also referred to as "game rules"] (https://www.goldencobra.org/pdf/2016/WeAreRoommatesNow_Gorman.pdf)).

Don't forget - the fate of Human/Xolarean relations depends on you!

This is a light larp about humans and aliens trying to negotiate a roommate agreement. No pre-written characters, no intricate lore, no long list of rules, just improvisation.

Structure: After a short introduction, Humans and Xolareans will get a chance to mingle with other members of their species and build up comradery/gossip about those weird aliens on the other side of the room. The negotiations themselves will take 45 minutes. This will be timed. One person in each group will write down the terms of the agreement. After agreements are finalized, groups are encouraged but not required to share their agreements with the other members of the HXCRE.

Characters: Players are welcome to play as themselves or to take a character prompt from the GM (a personality quirk which will provide you with a starting point for your negotiations). Costuming is not required.
