Long Description
A greasy spoon diner. A mysterious briefcase. An ancient grudge. A pot of bad coffee. Some punk who was asking for a bullet to the head. Break two, and make 'em weep.
Philadelphia Scramble is LARP exploring a series of three standoffs in three diners and three genres. In this game, each player will play a series of three unrelated (or are they?) characters, each separated from the last by a span of 100 years, and connected to them only by being in an equally stupid situation about to go completely belly up. Philadelphia Scramble is inspired by the cinematography of Quentin Tarantino, the Cohen Brothers, and Shinichirō Watanabe - think Pulp Fiction, Fargo, Cowboy Bebop, and Space Dandy. The tone will be actiony, absurdist, and melodramatic, and the body count will be high.
Philadelphia Scramble uses single-shot nerf guns as a combat mechanic, but rather than focusing on fast-paced boffer style combat, this game is more interested in exploring the slow tension of a standoff and the interpersonal dynamics which emerge when people start waving guns at each other. There might be a bit of quick shooting, but not much running and dodging, and the emphasis will be on roleplay. The game is planned to run 1.5 - 2 hours (broken up into 3 20-40 min scenes) with a short pre-game meeting and tutorial, and time to debrief after game.
