Barbenheimer
Do you ever think about becoming death?
Long Description
The war against the Kens has reached a stalemate. With the help of the G.I. Joes, the Barbies have reclaimed Barbieland, but the patriarchy of Kens refuse to surrender. As long as the patriarchy remains, the Kens remain an active threat to Barbieland -- but a long and bloody invasion will be required to dismantle their government.
The scientist barbies have developed a weapon. A weapon that might end all wars, forever.
Today, the national security council of Barbieland gathers to discuss their options. Do they unleash a weapon that no doll has ever seen the likes of before? What should be done with the Kens whose job is just "lab", who have been developing their own superweapon? And how can this weapon help discourage the rising threat of global capitalism from the G.I. Joes?
Barbenheimer is a decision-making LARP for 10 players, based (vaguely) off of the events portrayed in the 2023 movies Barbie and Oppenheimer, and drawing inspiration from historical occurrences like Operation Paperclip and the Cuban Missile Crisis. Players will spend two hours debating the use of (stand-ins for) nuclear weapons, the horrors of war, what to do with enemy scientists, and fighting the global influence of socio-political systems opposed to your own. Gameplay is expected to be more absurd than "silly", and will cover serious subjects. Players will take the role of barbies on the national security council or advising the council, such as President Barbie, Vice-President Barbie, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Barbie, Emotionally-Tortured Nuclear Physicist Barbie, Secretly-Capitalist-Leaning Nuclear Physicist Barbie, Ambassador to the Kens Allan, and so on.
All players who sign up should be OK with being cast as a Barbie. There may be (exactly) one Allan (players can opt out of this role).
Costuming is not required, but styling like that seen in either of the 2023 films referenced in this LARP is appropriate to the game. Character-specific costuming hints will not be provided, though the GM may provide either real-world historical figures, or real-world historical barbies, as influences for a given character.
At the time of bid, this game is not yet written. Surveys and character sheets may come out very close to game, the timing may be off, or the game just might not be Very Good(tm). This game is 200% a shitpost -- please set your expectations accordingly.
