I Don't Want to Set the World on Fire
Come party to the end of the world! A month before a world ending asteroid hits the Earth, you and your neighbors escape to your neighborhood bunker to await the final days. But survival (for now) doesn't mean lack of tension or drama, as you're stuck with people who both you've hurt and have hurt you. What will you do for the month that is left?
Long Description
Come party to the end of the world! A month before a world ending asteroid hits the Earth, you and your neighbors escape to your neighborhood bunker to await the final days. But survival (for now) doesn't mean lack of tension or drama, as you're stuck with people who both you've hurt and have hurt you. What will you do for the month that is left? How do you find meaning at the end of the world?
Players will be portraying a member of a neighborhood forced into a bunker for a final few days of safety. Players will be paired up depending on the character archetype they choose and their chosen character dynamics. Character dynamics include marital, extramarital affairs, familial and friendship, while some dynamics are fraught with antagonism-such as rivals and/or enemies. Some basic intimacy mechanics will be involved, as well as some dancing to music during one key moment of emotional clarity. Intimacy mechanics will include holding hands, hugging and dancing to indicate sexual/romantic intimacy or platonic intimacy. A countdown to the end of the world and in world announcements will be done within game.
A game about the inevitably of loss, death and working to make peace with your neighbors, even when it all feels pointless in the face of oblivion. It's a game about making choices for their own sake.
Intended tone: serious and somber discussions of death, intimacy, illness and community.
Players will be given a pre-generated character sheet based on survey results, which will assign them their character archetype, their desired character connections and specific players they wish to be partnered up with. Character sheets will be about 3-4 pages long. Workshop will include getting to know your fellow neighbors and development of any potential interesting dynamics, as well going over intimacy mechanics.
Costuming is strongly encouraged and the vibe is retro-futurism.
Game is based on the Fallout Soundtrack, the Netflix Original Mini Series Carol at the End of the World, the movie Seeking a Friend for the End of the World, and the Netflix movie Don't Look Up.
