Long Description

Once every 2 years, the pixies of Neverland are responsible for sending the seasons to the world of humans. They must also manage the migration of the Lunar Moths and Solar Butterflies, who collect the magic of hope, joy, and love from the human world, and return it to Neverland. The world of humans is dangerous, what with iron in the most unexpected places, but the exchange of magic is necessary for sustaining both worlds.

Tonight is supposed to be party - a celebration of a job well done for the pixies in charge of creating the seasons. It's also the time when the "Away Team" is selected, a prestigious if unenviable position, being stationed in the human world for 2 years to oversee the distribution of the seasons. But not everything is as perfect in Pixie Hollow as the Pixies would like to believe. Pixies are quick, flighty creatures, but are the quick enough to save Neverland, and the Human world?

This is the 3rd run of "Pixie Perfect," a game about the Pixies of Neverland. All characters are of my original design; no one will be playing "Tinkerbell" or any of the the cannon pixies.

This game is written in a Lit Form, or Secrets and Powers style. Players will be given pre-written characters based on responses to a casting survey, and expected to play to that character. Players will not be responsible for creating their own characters, stories, or plot arcs. Instead, players should expect to "play to discover" both the overarching public story, and pursue the unfolding of their character's personal stories. This game does not support extended out of character negotiation either. Players are encouraged to play to their character, "see what happens," and trust that your fellow players will use the available safety mechanics if necessary. Players will be given an opportunity in casting to indicate types of play, themes, etc. that they particularly enjoy/want, and those that they wish to avoid.

The tone of this game is intended to be somewhere between lighthearted and serious. This game is not slapstick, nor is it simply "friendship is magic". On the other side of the scale, this game is not brutal "them vs me" Game of Thrones style complicated political machinations either. Think of the way that characters inside Disney's Peter Pan or the Tinkerbell movies regard themselves. The issues they face are real to them, and they take those seriously, but the nature of the issues and/or the way in which they are addressed are often lighthearted, clever, and cute.

NB: This game focuses on the Pixies of Neverland, and therefore sidesteps very serious, very valid criticisms of the racist caricatures of indigenous people in the movie, and the colonialistic undertones of the story, both as a book and as a movie.

The 3 hour duration of the event will cover a 10 minute set up time, a 2.5 hour game play experience, and a 20 minute debrief afterwards, for everyone to learn what everyone else was up to.

Players will take on the role of a Pixie in one of the 4 courts of Pixie Hollow: Structure (Aka: government), Flora and Fauna (plant and animal management), Elements (the pixies in charge of creating the seasons), or Makers and Magic (aka: the inventors and the pixie dust managers). Players can expect to do or engage with the following kinds of thing in game (to more or lesser extent by character, so as long as some of this interests you, you might enjoy the game):

Costuming is always admired but never required for my games. You are welcome to wear fairy wings, butterfly wings, etc, or not. I have a number of pairs of wings I can lend out as well. You may want to draw costume inspiration from the Tinker Bell movies, ren faire outfits, and/or cottagecore aesthetic. You may have glitter on your costume and in your makeup, but do not bring loose glitter to game as it is against hotel policy, and not everyone enjoys ending up covered in glitter.

"Pixie Perfect" takes content inspiration from many of the TinkerBell movies, and several of the books. While the media that inspired this game is targetted at children, the content of game and way that heavy topics are approached is intended for adult participants.
