Long Description
Asylum of Malice
Behind locked doors and mirrored walls lies Blackheath Asylum, a secret MI6 facility where the villains of yesterday are meant to rot away. Megalomaniacs, femme fatales, and dazzling masterminds are held collared, contained, and forgotten. But MI6 has returned, and with them come the ambitious Licensees, their would-be apprentices, and the cool-eyed Command staff who orchestrate it all. Their mission is simple: test the villains, probe their loyalties, and decide who can be turned into a weapon for the Crown and who can be broken to teach the next generation.
For as long as the spies remain in control, the Asylum hums with interrogation, flirtation, and games of power. Then the collars fail. The villains seize control. And the world tilts: who are the real monsters, and who will walk out free?
Asylum of Malice is a high-drama espionage noir LARP inspired by the late 1960s spy films—full of velvet suits, mirrored interrogation rooms, and globe-trotting swagger. But here, the tropes of spy fiction are turned on their head. This is not just a hero’s story, but also the story of those forced into masks, those who resist, and those who play both sides of power. The game is queer, defiant, glamorous, and tragic, asking what happens when villainy is survival, when institutions devour their own, and when the performance of identity becomes a weapon.
Players will step into fixed roles as elite agents, hungry apprentices, or notorious villains. Expect intense psychological play, moments of high camp, sharp reversals of fortune, and the thrill of melodrama—where emotional extremes and theatrical choices are not only welcome but celebrated. The style is cooperative and consent-driven, giving space for both raw intimacy and over-the-top spectacle.
Themes include: power and powerlessness, queerness as resistance, performance and persona, seduction and manipulation, and the cruelty of institutions unmasked. The game includes stylized depictions of violence, oppression, and betrayal; safety tools will be provided, and all participants are expected to engage with empathy and care.
If you’ve ever wanted to play in the shadows of master spies while breaking their world apart, Asylum of Malice invites you to step inside Blackheath—and decide who deserves loyalty, who deserves freedom, and what you’ll sacrifice to claim either.
