Acheron IV is an experimental sci-fi larp with slow-horror elements about love, loss, grief, humanity and the unknown. In the year 2262, 3 cosmonauts have returned from a harrowing mission to the planet Acheron-IV without the captain of their ship. The Central Ministry of the United Terran Collective must find out what exactly happened on their mission, and what needs to be done about the Cosmonauts and the mysterious planet from which they return. Players either play one of the Cosmonauts or a Member of the Central Ministry.
Long Description
MEMORANDUM TO THE CENTRAL MINISTRY - CLASSIFIED ECHELON-I October 4th 2262:
Dear Central Minister,
The Morana-7 research vessel was sent to investigate the disappearance of the staff of the Morana-1 vessel orbiting the planet Acheron-IV. The Planet Acheron-IV was selected for study due to its anomalous radiation patterns, consistent with signs of possible extraterrestrial life.
The Morana-7 has returned from its 2 year journey, and confirmed that the crew of the Morana-1 did not survive. Regettably, neither did Captain Bryn, officer responsible for the Morana-7. The surviving crew was placed in quarantine in a secure bunker immediately upon return, as per protocol for any Cosmonaut returning from a potential encounter with extra-terrestrial life for full medical and psychological debriefing.
Preliminary reports demand the Central Ministry’s presence to assess the full situation and decide on a course of action.
In Eternal Solidarity, Amari Dvorak - Secretary General of the United Terran Collective.
ACHERON IV is a game looking to explore loss, grief, memory, humanity and the unknown. Ministers will be interrogating the returning Cosmonauts about what happened on the Morana-7 during it's two year voyage, especially surrounding the events near the mysterious planet of Acheron IV. It is intended to be a heady, emotional, and intense experience, with an experimental design.
A more detailed description of how the Larp is structured is available here: link
Players will be playing either one of the Cosmonauts being debriefed and interrogated, or one of the Central Ministry handling the interrogation. The Cosmonauts will also be playing memories, black box scenes giving us insight onto what really happened on board that vessel.
The role of Cosmonaut is more emotionally intense than playing a minister, and will require about 15 pages of reading and 1 hour zoom call prior to game. To ensure that we have all three cosmonauts at game, two of those who sign up as Cosmonauts will be cast as alternates, playing a Minister if the primary Cosmonauts are available.
The Minister role will have about 9 pages of reading, but will have all necessary elements printed for them, with the ability to reference them throughout the game. Costuming requirements for the Ministers is simply business formal.
Please check the content warnings thoroughly, as this game will deal with some disturbing subject matter. Players, especially cosmonauts, will have agency regarding how they deal with the subject matter. Every role is written to be gender agnostic, so you may choose any gender you want for any of the roles.
