The Wreck of the Valiant
The wreck of the Valiant is the Solar System's most infamous disaster, lost on its luxurious first trip from Earth to Nemesis. Time and space swallowed the stories of the people lost on the ship. Only the tales of survivors from the lonely lifeboats remain.
Long Description
Everybody remembers the wreck of the Valiant, the Solar System's most famous disaster, lost on its luxurious first trip from Earth to Nemesis. History remembers the stray asteroid that clipped the hull, of the mysterious explosion that made everything so much worse. Time and space swallowed the stories of the people on the ship and the hours on the lifeboat after the disaster. This is the story of that night.
You didn't know there would be a wreck when you boarded Valiant. You didn't know that the mid-way Captain's Reception might be the last time you'd see people you loved. How could you? It was a marvel of modern engineering, the titan of space flight. The horrors of war were just far enough behind you that most of you could almost forget it ever happened at all, while some hoped to submerge the awful memories behind a night's excess. The wealthy glittered, a chosen few from beneath them invited up into the ivory tower for a single night.
Tonight, just before the Valiant will wreck, rich and lucky passengers congregate in the ballroom for the reception. Dinner has ended, the party has just begun, and celebration continues as disaster looms.
The Wreck Of The Valiant is a larp about courage, cowardice, loss, love, class, war, and perseverance. Characters will have pre-written goals and relationships.
Not everyone who is signed up for this event will survive the wreck of the Valiant. The breakup of Valiant happens partway through this slot, whereupon the Survivors and the Lost will be separated—forever. All players will play the entire game slot.
Characters are “bring your own gender or leave it at home.” Romantic ties may be cast as any gender. A casting survey will ask about your preferences for romance, gender, style of play, and content warnings. Due to flexibility for players to present as they wish, romance gender preferences cannot be guaranteed.
Valiant was a luxury spaceliner. The events happen not in 1912 but in the distant future. That said, anachronism abounds. Dress how you wish, in either turn of the 20th century finery or the turn of the 25th.
