The Oracle's Turning

The Oracle is dying, and tonight's Initiation will shift the Temple's balance. As the old order passes, a new circle of priestesses will rise to serve the Goddess in her many faces, learning the sacred rituals that sustain the land. The outgoing temple must step aside; the coming sisters will shape the future.

Each priestess will pledge herself to a different aspect of the divine—distinct portfolios, morals, and ways of moving through life—and each brings her own motives and burdens. Choices made this night demand sacrifice. This game is for 17 players: anyone may play any gender, but every character is a “Priestess.” Expect initiatory rites, tense interpersonal drama, and weighty personal decisions.

Long Description

The Oracle lies on a bed of salt and smoke, her breath a slow metronome between worlds. The temple bell tolls for the last time; the city outside holds its breath. Word goes out: the Priestesses assemble. From novice to well-established, each will be tested by fire, secrecy, grief and revelation. Only one will return from the rites with the voice of prophecy, but all will leave changed.

Tonight is the night of Initiation -- when the Oracle turns, so does the Order. The current Temple Priestesses must move on. A new group will dedicate their lives to following the Goddess, in her many forms, and learning the sacred rites that keep the world vibrant.

Priestesses will be dedicated to many different Goddesses. Each has a different domain, a different set of values, a way of moving through the world. All the sisters have different reasons for wanting to devote their lives to their Goddess -- but there is always a cost, always a sacrifice. Tonight is the night to decide.

This is a larp for 17 players. Characters can be any gender (player-chosen) but all will be “Priestesses”. Much of the game play consists of initiatory rites, interpersonal drama, and personal choices.
