Falling In

by Kevin Gordon and Kristen Patten

A crew of intrepid explorers, crossing interstellar space via wormhole for the first time. You knew the journey would be strange -- but not this strange. Has something gone terribly wrong?

This is a movement based game for 18 people. Some will portray the original crew entering a wormhole, while others will be playing ā€˜stars’ or ā€˜dust’ - other forms with other backgrounds that exist inside of the wormhole.

This game is mostly nonverbal after the first hour or so, and also contains blindfold dancing.

Long Description

Six astronauts. One wormhole. Infinite nothing — or not quite nothing.

You were humanity's chosen—the first to cross the boundary between here and there, to step through the rift in spacetime itself. The unmanned trials that went before have gone well. You had your troubles, your tensions, and your worries. But on the whole you were excited - thrilled - to be chosen to crew the first true interstellar ship.

Instead, you are suspended in the threshold, caught between departure and arrival in a place that doesn't obey the rules of physics, psychology, or time. Communication fails. Gravity comes and goes. Your bodies remember Earth while existing nowhere at all. In this liminal space, you must navigate not just with words but with movement, breath, and presence. The space between stars has a language of its own.

But you are not alone. The wormhole has other forms—presences that demand interaction, transformation, witness. What will you leave behind in this crossing? What are you becoming? Who are they, and how are they transforming with you?

This game combines some traditional character interaction with extensive movement-based and nonverbal play. Some of the game will be spent doing blindfold dancing.

There are three very different play experiences -- ā€œcrewā€ will have the most traditional game, ā€œsparksā€ will have mostly nonverbal play, and ā€œdustā€ will have mostly blindfolded and nonverbal play.
