Oh, and alien slugs called Yeerks that can control your brain are trying to take over the earth and the rest of the galaxy, and the only people who can do anything about it are you and your friends that can turn into animals. You are the Animorphs.

Animorphs: The Barn is a LARP in the Slow LARP genre. You will play the six teens, Jake, Cassie, Marco, Rachel, Tobias, and Ax from the landmark book series Animorphs by K.A. Applegate in the leadup to a mission, take a break, and then play the fallout from that mission.

Long Description

We can’t tell you who we are. Or where we live. It’s too risky, and we’ve got to be careful. Really careful. So we don’t trust anyone. Because if they find us… well, we just won’t let them find us.

The thing you should know is that everyone is in really big trouble. Yeah. Even you.

It is Tuesday, December 3rd 1996. You’re a high school freshman. Bill Clinton is President. Kurt Kobain died 8 months ago. Oh, and alien slugs called Yeerks that can control your brain are trying to take over the earth and the rest of the galaxy, and the only people who can do anything about it are you and your friends that can turn into animals. You are the Animorphs.

You have been at this fight for four months. It is starting to feel normal. You hate that it is feeling normal.

In that time you have learned about your enemy, conducted a few strikes that didn’t amount to much, freed a helpful adolescent alien from a spaceship from the bottom of the sea, and one of you got stuck as a bird forever.

As far as you know, nobody is coming to help you. It is six teenagers against a vast alien conspiracy. You can’t tell your parents, or a counselor, or a therapist. All you have is each other.

Tomorrow morning Senator Diane Feinstein is coming to cut the ribbon on a new Outdoor Activity Center run by The Sharing. The Sharing is a front organization for the Yeerks. You don’t know if she is already a controller or not, but you can’t take the risk, you’re going to strike it tonight.

Jake told everyone to meet at Cassie’s barn after school to come up with a plan.

Oh, and you have math homework due tomorrow.

You will not be playing the action.

This is a game about child soldiers supporting each other when no one else can

Oh, and you'll have to do math homework.

Costuming requirements?

Yeah, I got one, and it's kinda weird. This is on K.A. Applegate, I promise. You can only morph in clothes that are tight to the skin. Changing for the mission, and returning to the real world is a part of the game. If you are comfortable, wear yoga pants or bike shorts and a tight tank under your clothes.

You are not at all required to participate in this part of the game if you wouldn't like.

How will this be cast?

I will be doing genderblind casting for this game. I will be sending out a dramatis personae before casting that will include the themes most attached to each character, and you will be able to rank your preferences 1-6, and list characters you do not want to play. Please be open to multiple characters. I know everyone has a favorite, but they are all great.

How well do I need to know Animorphs?

I hope not at all! I am going to include the necessary lore in your packets, and most of this game is about your interpersonal relationship.

If you do know the lore, this takes place between books 5 and 6 with one small tweak (I am including the Ax/Tobias shorm relationship early)
