Welcome, ladies!

You have been graciously invited to attend the annual Mortal Masque, hosted by Her Royal Queerness, Queen Mab of the Seelie Court.

Failing to appear is not an option, since you’re already here and unlikely to ever leave. Word to the wise: try not to get swept up in the wonder or wordplay of Faerie as you barter for your freedom, engage in blackmail and betrayal, and cling feebly to your sanity amid the buffet of temptations laid before you. Remember to obey the rules of Faerieland and never dishonor your host, for it is the fey’s ironclad observation of the laws of hospitality that serve as your primary protection in your waltz through the Wild Lands.

Every human in attendance was personally invited (or beguiled) by a member of Queen Mab’s Royal Court, and possess previous or private connections to those same high-born fey. From former and current lovers to abandoned offspring to traitors and turncoats. Every faerie is concealing secrets from the Queen and Court, and it is the only hope of the humans to uncover what they can in order to negotiate their freedom and obtain a faerie’s mask.

Each faerie dons a mask, which, when bestowed upon a human, will serve as a ticket to return to the mortal realm, unharmed. With nearly twice as many mortal guests as faeries, not all will find their way home. Some may strive instead to earn a place in Seelie, to serve or live out their days with their fey lover in relative safety, to supplant a member of the Royal Court, or to die trying. However, all who appear before Her Majesty can expect to dine, dance, and dally with the mischievous, malevolent fey of the Seelie Court, for as long as their feet will carry them (and for some, long after.)

Secrets of the Seelie Court: A Sapphic Soiree is a three-hour, play-to-lift, Nordic-style larp for queer larpers, by queer larpers. It is a secrets-and-powers larp with secrets written into (nearly) all character backstories and minor magical mechanics to enchant and entrap the mortal guests. While dancing is an element in this larp, physical mobility is by no means a requirement. This larp was inspired by the common tropes and traditions found in fairy folklore, the complete works of Holly Black, and my desire to see more sapphic spaces in larp.

All characters in this game are women/female-oriented fey and implied to have a romantic and/or sexual interest in other women. While the audience of this game is queer/sapphic larpers, anyone may sign up.
