It's time for Camp Luna campers to go home. But four 12-year-old Girl Scouts refuse to be separated. And they have a plan: no one can take them away if they slip off into the Atlantic as mermaids.

Just Add Mom's Expensive Hand Lotion is a cozy, emotional LARP about both wanting and not wanting things to change, about growing up, and about childhood experiences you never forget. It is inspired by mermaid media like H2O: Just Add Water, the Emily Windsnap books, and Aquamarine. This game is low-mechanics and mostly a sit-and-talk LARP, but it will also include a short ritual and a nonverbal physical movement portion (we will workshop this).

A note about gender: All characters identify as girls, but one character will have some internal gender exploration that will lean towards trans-masc.

Summer is ending and it's time for all Camp Luna campers to pack up and go home. But four stubborn 12-year-old Girl Scouts refuse to be separated. And they have a plan: no one can take them away if they slip off into the Atlantic as mermaids.

All summer long, these four campers have created a tight bond of friendship: kayaking just off the North Carolina coast, earning Girl Scout badges, doing projects together in the STEM Lab, watching each other's backs in the camp-wide assassin game, and more. But, most of all, they have bonded over their love of mermaids. They've spent all summer sharing mermaid lore and pretending to be mermaids, weaving a complex story of their mermaid adventures. Now, though, they're about to be broken up and it's all going to end. Tomorrow, their parents will come to pick them up. But, they're not gonna let that happen if they can stop it.

They could try to keep in contact and visit each other, sure, but that's not enough for them. They want to be Best Friends Forever, and if that means leaving their families and former lives behind, so be it. They've done the research, they've gathered the ingredients, and it's... close enough to a full moon. Tonight is the night they're going to become mermaids for real. Tonight is the night they're going to escape into the Atlantic Ocean to begin their true mermaid adventures.

Players will receive character sheets that are about 5-7 pages long before game. There will be a bit of reading about Camp Luna, but otherwise no other lore or setting documents. Costuming is not important, but feel free to wear your best summer camp fit!
