Long Description
On April 1, 1945 the United States Tenth Army invaded the Japanese island of Okinawa in the largest amphibious assault of the Pacific campagin. The Japanese 32nd Army defended the island in the bloodiest battle of the Pacific war. General Ushijima knew that he could not stop the Allied assault, but he would make them pay for every yard they advanced.
